I haven’t been able to play myself (no Xbox or PC, lol) but it really shocks me that this game’s tutorials/opportunities to practice are so shallow, if that makes sense. I really want to like this game the way I liked the first KartRider. Being 0.1 degree off on your turn will ruin the entire race.Īnyone else feel the same? Am I wrong? The drift physics can stay as they are, I get that there's some nuance to them and a learning curve, but holy shit the crash/wall physics are just insanely brutal, to the point where it's not even fun. It is literally easier for me to set record times in Forza 7 with sim settings than it is for me to even finish a speedmode run in this game. The other half of the time, a single tap towards the inside of the drift sends me doing a 180.
Hell, half the time when I try to countersteer during a drift it snaps back locking me into a drift in the other direction.
Dunno, maybe I just need to 'git gud' or maybe old kart rider was like this and i'm just not remembering it correctly, but this doesn't feel fun to me at all. The drifting was super consistent in the old Kart Rider, and tapping a wall didn't mean you went from 1st to 8th. This game is just ridiculous and so far not fun. I play racing sims, and drift in racing sims, as well as in real life. I've gotten stuck for literally 10+ seconds from merely skimming a wall. Back up? Well by the time you've done that you've already lost your position 8 times over, and 90% of the time will result in someone hitting you from behind, back into the wall. You'll barely tap the inside wall on a drift and end up full stop, facing the wall, and stuck. The wall/crash physics are fucking brutal.
I was expecting more of that, and I guess I set myself up for disappointment.
I played beta for OG kart rider and it was one of my favorite games ever.
